I am in love with this book that Katrina told me about. It is called Unplugged Play. She told me about it awhile ago but everytime I went to the library it was checked out. I finally got it! It has all these ideas about how to keep kids busy on their own (with out tv) and games to play with them, and games to play with other kids their age.
Spencer loves Blues Clues and Thomas way too much. So I made a "schedule" for his day. So I am replacing some of the tv time with play with me or on his own. I am not strict on the schedule it is more to give me some feeling of order to the day.
The suggestions in the book are really easy. When I read them I am always thinking, "Why didn't I think of that! Duh!"
So here is one idea: Make a "job jar." (we didn't do the jar) Basically let your toddler have a damp rag and a bucket of water (not full at all), or you don't even have to have the water and let them wash walls, the fridge, oven...you get the idea. So here is Spencer doing that...he loved it. The kitchen floor is very wet, but he was busy for 10 minutes!
Yea for creative people you write these ideas down!!
